So as long as the mother is aware of the benefits and risks of Caesarean section versus vaginal delivery, she should be involved in the decision process regarding the route of delivery.

It is important to stress that a woman should not be routinely offered a Caesarean Section - The decision for intervention at any stage in a pregnancy or labour has to be taken by the attending midwife or obstetrician in agreement with the woman, and for good reason.
